‘‘Most people buy them to look at them,” Tom Noble of Armstrong Valley Farm in Guerneville says of his gorgeous winter squashes.

“I tell them they can do both, they can enjoy the appearance but eat them, too,” he adds as he shows me the gorgeous deep orange and beautiful squat shape of one of his Cinderella squashes. Its color is mesmerizing.

Tom is at the Wednesday and Saturday market. Not only wonderful winter squash but many varieties of potatoes and garlic.
