Ranch History
For three generations the Schletewitz family has been growing fruit on their farm. The land was first purchased by Eric Schletewitz’s grandparents in 1932 and has been in the family ever since. Eric and his family are committed to sustainable farming practices. As a part of his commitment, the farm is using non-conventional fertilizers and will complete the transition of being certified organic by 2010.
Practices
The farm is currently transitioning from conventional to organic practices, scheduled to be complete in 2010.
Pesticides
The farm uses pharemone disruptants, tilling and mowing for pest control. They fertilize with compost and rock minerals. Information from Marin Ag Institute
