EBT starts August 14th

Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that automates the delivery, redemption, and reconciliation of issued public assistance benefits. EBT is the method for distributing the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)[1] benefits, the California Food Assistance Program benefits and, in most California counties, cash aid benefits.

Until this month, food assistance dollars could not be used at area farmers markets. Unfair to both the farmers and the recipients.

EBT comes to the Santa Rosa Farmers Market on Saturday 8/14.
Free lunch for cardholders compliments of Mateo Grandados. Cooking Demonstrations, free recipe books, fun activities for kids, market tours and community gardening assistance.

The Market is also raising money to help EBT recipients extend their benefits. Look for donation buckets on Market Days.

Recipients of food assistance are on the rise in Sonoma County.
